Bharat Ratna Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Certificate Course in International Music Colleges P.L. Deshpande will be started in the academy on a temporary basis from September 28. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has given instructions in this regard.

Eknath Shinde had directed to start Bharat Ratna Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar International Music College in a meeting held on 16th August. Accordingly, six courses of one year duration will be started. A total of 150 students will be admitted in it.

Courses offered at Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar International College of Music include Certificate Courses in Hindustani Classical Music, Indian Flute, Tabla, Sitar, Harmonium/Keyboard, Sound Engineering. An advisory board has been appointed under the chairmanship of Hridaynath Mangeshkar to ensure that the work of this college is orderly and of excellent quality. In this, Usha Mangeshkar, Adinath Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar, Mayuresh Pai and Art Director will be members.

In order not to face the problem of lack of space to start the college this year, P.L. A detailed discussion was held regarding the establishment of a temporary college at the Deshpande Kala Academy. September 28 is Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar’s birth anniversary. It has been decided to start the first batch this year on the occasion of Jayanti.

The Department of Higher and Technical Education is located in front of the Kalina Campus of the University of Mumbai. Bharat Ratna Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar International Music College will be set up in this place. A special committee was constituted for this work. This committee has also been instructed to submit the report of the course to be started this year early.

Song empress Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on 6 February 2022 at the age of 93 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Lata Didi’s voice has rocked the music world for over seven decades.
