Kolhapur District Has Not Seen Sun Rise Panchganga River Is Likely To Reach Warning Level

Kolhapur Rain: Varun Raja’s procession has been going on for three days in a row all over the district including Kolhapur city. Therefore, there has been no solar eclipse in the district. After some revelations, heavy rain showers have started again in the district including Kolhapur city.

According to the District Disaster Management Cell, the water level at Rajaram Dam has reached 35 feet 6 inches by 10 am. The Panchganga river is considered a warning level after the water level reaches 39 feet, while the last danger level is calculated at 43 feet. Due to incessant rains, 55 dams in the district have gone under water. It has had an adverse effect on the transport system. Traffic has been disrupted due to mudslides on many routes.

Meanwhile, water storage in major dams in the district is also increasing rapidly. The rains have picked up speed since Monday. The water level in the rivers has been steadily rising due to heavy rains in the catchment areas of the dams. It is forbidden to go to Panchganga river ghat. The ghat for the funeral has also gone under water.

Currently the flood water is on the river ghat road in Shukrawar Pethe. The municipal administration has warned the settlements along the river. The fire brigade personnel have been asked to go to Sutavamla, Shahupuri, Bavda, Siddharth Nagar and be ready for evacuation.
