LUCKNOW: Lauding eight years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for bringing the much-needed change in the lives of people, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched an offensive against the previous UPA government, accusing it of institutionalizing corruption and fuelling separatist movements, anarchy and terrorism.
Speaking to reporters at the UP BJP headquarters, Yogi said that big slogans like ‘Gareebi Hatao’ could not achieve its objective. “The ideological mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ has fulfilled the dream of making the country self-reliant as envisioned by PM Modi,” he said.
“Last eight years mark an unprecedented achievement by ensuring the mantra of ‘Seva, Suraksha, Sushasan aur Gareeb Kalyan’ (service, security, good governance and welfare of the poor),” Yogi said, after unveiling a set of pamphlets which the BJP functionaries would be taking to various household as part of a fortnight long drive.
The CM said his government walked shoulder to shoulder with the Centre in meeting the goals of doubling farmers’ income, employment to the youth and wheeling out ambitious infrastructure projects.
Yogi said the integration of Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhar and mobile technology ushered in major economic reforms.
“The Government e-Market (GeM) portal also ensured utmost transparency which is a revolutionary step. The ‘double engine’ government of the BJP has smoothened the implementation of public welfare schemes,” he added.
Listing out schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Ujjwala, Ayushman, AMRUT scheme, Saubhagya and Har Ghar Nal Scheme, the Chief Minister said that the initiatives brought necessary changes in the lives of the people.
He said the BJP government also managed to meet the target of providing compensation to farmers which was about 1.5 times the crop cultivation.
“The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has touched the lives of farmers. Kisan credit card and the provision of adequate coverage under insurance schemes have been rolled out,” he said.
Yogi said that his government managed to double its income through effective collection of GST and VAT in the last five years. The CM also felicitated the beneficiaries of Chief Minister Bal Sewa and Kanya Sumangla schemes.
