BHOPAL: After a brief respite when the mercury dropped below 40 degree Celsius in Bhopal last week, mercury is on the rise again. At most places in the state, the temperature is above 40 degrees.
In Bhopal, the maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 43.1 degrees – three degrees above the normal mark, while night temperature was 28.8 degrees, which was a degree above normal. Wind direction was south-westerly with an average speed of 20 kmph. At some places in the state, the day temperature remained around 45 degrees.
Officials of the meteorological department, Bhopal circle said, there is a cycle over south-east Uttar Pradesh and east-west trough over south-east UP to Bihar. However, the systems would not have much impact over the state and largely hot weather would prevail in the state, barring a few places, the officials said.
In the forecast for Bhopal on Thursday, the meteorological officials said, there would be clear sky in the day while evening will be cloudy. Mainly dry weather will prevail. Day and night temperatures would be 41 and 28 degrees respectively with an average wind speed of 20 kmph.
In the forecast for other parts of the state, a warning of heat waves was issued for Chhatarpur district. A possibility of light rain, thunder and high velocity winds was underlined for Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Indore, Ujjain and Dewas districts. The weather would be dry over other places in the state.
