Narendra Singh Tomar on Fertilizers: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the private sector should cooperate with the government to reduce the use of fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture. Narendra Singh Tomar was addressing the 11th Agrochemical Conference organized by FICCI, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Our country is based on agriculture. Tomar said that the contribution of agriculture sector in the country’s economy is huge.
10 thousand new Farmers Producers Association started to emerge
Tomar also said that horticulture sector should be promoted in our country now so that we can become self-reliant in all respects. Our country is now in a very good position in terms of food production. In order to compete globally, we have to look at the more developed nations in agriculture and learn new things. We have to move forward with them. At present, 10,000 new farmers’ associations are being set up in the country. Farmers are reaping huge benefits. They will be even more profitable in the future. Crop diversification should also be encouraged, said Narendra Singh Tomar.

Krishi Vigyan Kendras are proving to be very useful for the farmers. He also appealed to the industrial organizations like FICCI to come together and work for the development of agriculture. There is a great deal of public awareness about the use of pesticides. It is important to pay attention to the increasing use of chemical fertilizers and the declining quality of food grains, the detrimental effects on human health and the adverse effects on nature. Overuse of chemical fertilizers is dangerous. Therefore, it is important to study the increasing use and harmful effects of chemical fertilizers.
